The Diamond Setter celebrates launch

The Diamond Setter celebrated their official opening on The Pantiles with an exclusive reveal

Gavin and Lorraine Marsh, Owners of The Diamond Setter, hosted an evening with special VIP guests, to celebrate the official opening of their new showroom and onsite workshop on The Pantiles on Wednesday 21 February. Despite the wind and rain, guests came out to explore the stunning range of hand-crafted pieces and the welcoming, open-plan layout of the new location that is the jeweller’s new home, having been based at Salomons Estate for the previous three years. The Diamond Setter specialises in bespoke jewellery, redesign and remodelling of heirloom pieces, engagement and wedding rings and their onsite workshop is equipped to carry out various jewellery repairs.

Guests were treated to exquisite canapés created by Lukas Barauskas from The Pantiles Bar & Café, glasses of bubbles and were the very first to hear exciting news about a UK exclusive for The Diamond Setter.

Gavin and Lorraine have been selected to be the first UK Jeweller to design and stock Osmium. Osmium is not only the rarest metal in the world, but in its crystalline form is undisputedly the most beautiful jewellery metal in the world, which sparkles so brilliantly.

Osmium is only available from trained specialist dealers around the world, and it can only be delivered to customers with a certificate of authenticity and an eight digit Osmium identification code (OIC) from the Osmium Institute in Germany. Each piece of osmium is as unique as a thumb print, it cannot be replicated or cloned and due to the extremely limited quantity available in the world, investors are speculating that osmium is an excellent long-term tangible asset, either in its crystallin discs and bars or as part of a piece of jewellery. They predict that this, combined with it rarity, will make it difficult for jewellers and customers to acquire in future years.

Gavin and Lorraine both completed rigorous training and Gavin has already been busy designing his first collection of Osmium jewellery pieces, of which one set is located at their showroom on The Pantiles, the other is travelling around the world being presented at leading jewellery exhibitions.

Gavin, Co-Owner of The Diamond Setter, commented on the event; “It was such a privilege to invite guests to join us to officially open our new studio on The Pantiles. We are very proud of what we have created at the showroom, The Diamond Setter are jewellers with a difference. We designed the space to be open-plan, informal and relaxed so people can take a look at all our designs (with prices on full display, as that is my pet hate, the unknown price!) and without having to peer over a counter or feel they will be pounced on by a sales person. Whilst we have been open already for a few weeks, we wanted to mark this exciting announcement with some special guests, and let them see Osmium for themselves.”

Lorraine, fellow Co-Owner adds; “We have been blown away by the positive response since we opened, we have had a steady stream of clients, both old and new, and the other traders on The Pantiles have been incredibly welcoming to us both. We now have the space to accommodate a sizeable workshop with three benches and showcase a bigger range of Gavin’s designs. We had been looking for a special location for a long time and being in the historic heartland of Tunbridge Wells, our home town, is perfect. We really look forward to meeting more people over the coming months.”

Repair, reuse, recycle - all increasingly familiar language nowadays. It’s a rethinking of the value of longevity. A fresh cultural subplot in counterbalance to the almost deafening obsession with all things new and young that we’ve had to navigate for decades.
