Common Chain Styles

There are many different types of chains, each with its own unique look and feel. Here are some of the most popular types:

Cable chain: This is the most classic and recognisable type of chain, featuring uniform, oval or round links. Cable chain is created from perpendicular round or oval links that are exactly the same and connected together. The links of the chain can be flattened so that the chain is flat.
Curb chain: A curb chain consists of circular links that interlock and lie flat close together. It is made from oval or round links that are parallel to another and all the same size.
  • Figaro chain: Figaro chain has its origins in Italy and is worn around the globe. The pattern of this chain is created with two or three round curb links followed by a long oval link.

  • Box chain: Box chains have squared links (rather than the typical round or oval links) and connect to look like a box. The shape of this chain makes it very stable and durable.

  • Singapore chain: Singapore chain appears delicate, but its strong soldered links make it extremely durable. It is a twisted chain linking pattern that is a combination of a rope chain and a curb chain.

  • Snake chain: Snake chain has a sleek look and gets its name because of its unique texture and the way it moves. The thin and delicate chain rings fit together tightly to form a flexible tube.

  • Herringbone chain: Herringbone chain consists of flat and thin segments of metal. The individual links overlap each other in an intricate manner.

  • Mariner chain: Anchor chain, also called a mariner chain, is typically thick and heavy with rounded elongated links broken in half with a bar element.
  • Bead chain consists of metal balls that are identical in shape and size. They are joined together by connector wire or bars.
  • Mirror - Mirror chain consists of small, flat, reflective links the resemble tiny mirrors. These reflective surfaces catch and play with light, giving the necklace a sparkling eye-catching appearance.
  • Omega chain is made from individual components that are closely combined and extremely inflexible. They are arranged in a curve and retain a consistent oval shape.

These are just a few of the many different types of chains available. When choosing a chain, consider the style, material, and weight that best suits your needs.
