Full Eternity Ring, 1.62ct Natural Diamonds, 18ct Gold, Platinum or Palladium

Twenty seven natural white diamonds run the whole way round this band, each 2.5mm across and coming to approximately 1.62ct in total.

Full eternity means the stones continue past the halves and meet at the back, so there is no plain section.

The diamonds are calibrated, which means each one is cut to the same measurements as the others rather than simply sorted by size. On a full eternity ring that matters more than on most designs, because any variation shows up immediately when the stones sit in a continuous line with nothing to break it up.

Calibrated stones sit level and evenly spaced the whole way round.

They are grain set, which means small beads of metal are raised from the surface with a hand tool and pushed over the edge of each stone to hold it. There are no claws standing proud, so the surface stays smooth and the row reads as an unbroken line of diamond with very little metal showing between the stones.

It is slower work than claw setting and it is done by hand at the bench.

Choose 18ct yellow gold, 18ct white gold, 18ct rose gold, platinum or palladium, hallmarked so the metal content is independently verified.

Palladium is worth a word, as it is less familiar than the others. It is a precious metal in the platinum family, naturally white so it never needs plating, and noticeably lighter on the finger than platinum, which some people prefer and others do not. It has been compulsorily hallmarked in the UK since 2010.

One thing worth knowing before you choose a full eternity ring: because the stones go all the way round, it cannot be resized later in the way a half eternity can. It is worth being confident of your size, and we can measure you properly at the showroom.
