Galaxy in Colour Seven Gemstone Ring in 9ct Gold

Seven different gemstones are set into this band, each a different colour and a different size, scattered rather than lined up in a row.

The largest is a 3mm salt and pepper diamond, a natural diamond with visible black and white inclusions running through it, which gives it a speckled grey appearance rather than the clear white of a graded stone. Around it sit a 2mm citrine in warm yellow, a 2mm emerald in green, a 2mm pink sapphire, a 2mm aquamarine in pale blue, a 1mm ruby in red and a 1mm blue sapphire.

Two setting techniques are used together. Gypsy setting, also called flush setting, sinks the stone into the metal so its top sits level with the surface, with no rim or claws standing proud. Star grain setting holds a stone with tiny grains of metal and adds fine engraved lines radiating outwards, so the stone appears to sit at the centre of a small star.

Together they keep the surface of the ring smooth while giving each stone its own treatment, which is where the scattered, star field effect comes from.

Available in solid 9ct yellow gold or 9ct white gold, hallmarked so the metal content is independently verified.

This piece is made by hand by our own master jeweller and gemstone setter at our studio at The Pantiles in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, which means we can size it for you and look after it in future rather than sending it away.

Setting seven different stones at different sizes with two different techniques is close, careful work, and not something that can be done at scale.
