Platinum Pear Cut Lab Grown Diamond Ring, 1.06ct D VS1, Hidden Halo

A 1.06ct pear cut lab grown diamond sits at the centre of this platinum ring, graded D for colour and VS1 for clarity.

D is the highest colour grade a diamond can be given, meaning it is completely colourless, and VS1 means any inclusions need magnification to find.

Beneath the centre stone sits a hidden halo of lab grown diamonds totalling 0.11ct, bringing the ring to 1.17ct in all.

A hidden halo is set around the side of the setting rather than around the face of the stone, and that is the whole idea. Looked at from above the ring reads as a clean solitaire with nothing around the diamond.

Turn the hand and the halo appears in profile, running below the centre stone where a plain setting would show only metal. It is a detail that reveals itself from the side and to the wearer looking down, rather than something on display to everyone at once.

A pear cut has one rounded end and one point, and the elongated outline covers more of the finger than a round stone of the same weight. Worn with the point towards the fingertip it draws the eye along the finger, which is why people often describe the shape as lengthening.

The setting is platinum, a dense white metal that does not need plating to stay white, unlike white gold which is usually rhodium plated and needs redoing over time.

Made by hand in our own workshop at The Pantiles in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, so we can size it for you and look after it in future rather than sending it away.

You are welcome to see it in person, and a hidden halo is worth looking at in the hand, as photographs taken from above cannot show it at all.
