How Often Should You Service Your Engagement Ring or Jewellery?

How Often Should You Service Your Engagement Ring or Jewellery?

It’s always music to our ears when clients rave about wearing their jewellery. After all, it’s made to be enjoyed. What we love to hear a little less, though, is that it’s been five years since its last service.

We completely understand that life gets busy, and jewellery care isn’t always at the front of mind. But just like you wouldn’t leave your car without a service for five years, the same should apply to your jewellery. Regular jewellery servicing helps maintain the beauty, security, and longevity of your engagement ring, wedding band, or tennis bracelet, just to name a few.

A professional jewellery service ensures your diamonds and gemstones remain secure, your settings stay strong, and your pieces continue to sparkle.

Jewellery maintenance is especially important, as it helps identify potential issues early, such as loose stones or a thinning band, before they become serious problems. Regular checks can prevent costly repairs and keep your jewellery safe to wear every day.

It’s also the perfect excuse for a professional clean. You’d be amazed at the difference it makes. Restoring shine, brilliance, and sparkle. It can genuinely feel like you’re treating yourself to a brand-new piece of jewellery every time.

Recently, a client came to us with a heart pendant she wears every day. She had never had it serviced and initially visited us simply for a clasp replacement.

As standard at The Diamond Setter, all repair work includes a clean and polish, and it’s safe to say she was pleasantly surprised by the results. The transformation was remarkable. You can see the amazing before and after below

We feel so strongly about this that every piece purchased or commissioned with us comes with a complimentary lifetime service guarantee. This includes annual checks of all settings, along with a professional clean and polish.

It’s important to note that this does not include any repairs required due to heavy wear, accidental damage, rhodium plating or ring resizing. These services require a higher level of skill and additional time in the workshop. However, the only exception to this is that we do offer one complimentary resize for all surprise engagement rings

As a rule of thumb, to properly care for your jewellery, we recommend removing it when showering, washing up, and even while sleeping. This helps prevent the build-up of grime, soaps, and oils that can leave a film on your jewellery and diamonds, causing them to appear dull and lacklustre. Ultimately, this simple habit will help extend the life and beauty of your jewellery and help look after between services.

Here is what a simple clean can do for your diamonds
