It makes the centre stone look larger by extending the area of brightness around it, and it adds sparkle close in so the whole head of the ring catches light rather than just the middle.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe halo here uses three different stone sizes: four at 2.25mm, eight at 1.40mm and four at 1.10mm.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThat is not decoration for its own sake. An oval is not a circle, so the curve is tight at the two ends and much gentler along the sides.
